Stars for Shen -contest entry-

This is my contest entry for

Knite is a flash comic created by another one of my favorite artists. The contest is to create your own OC based off the comic.

So, OC stats:

Name: Teifa Connor
Nickname: Ai
Nationality: American

Backstory: Teifa moved from the States to China when she was very young because of her father's job. Unable to understand the language, she felt alienated, until a young boy named Shen befriended her. He spoke fluent english because of his father's job, and so he helped her learn the language and culture. They grew up together, and are best friends. He even gave her the nickname, Ai.

Picture Backstory: Shen felt cramped and suffocated in China's streets. He longed for freedom, to see the stars in the sky. Teifa promised him that one day, they would both leave the city and see the stars together. The older they grew, the more agitated and impatient Shen became, until finally, he left home in the middle of the night, telling no one where he was going. Heartbroken, Teifa joined the Knites, donning the name "Ai" and fervently placing stars up in the sky night after night, praying for Shen to see them and come home.


Ai and Shen's story is actually based on a promise I made to someone in real life a few years ago. We don't speak anymore, and he has probably forgotten, but I won't. Ever. And I'm always hoping for the day that I see his name in my inbox because he remembered me, and the promise we made. That's what drove me to create Ai, and draw the entry in this fashion.
